Notification concerning the Law on the introduction of the euro

In accordance with the Law on the Introduction of the Euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, promulgated in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Bulgaria, no. 70 of 20.08.24 (the Euro Act), as of the date of introduction of the euro as the official currency in the Republic of Bulgaria and 12 months after the date of introduction of the euro in the Republic of Bulgaria, insurance companies shall indicate in euro and in BGN in double:

       1. the total amount payable by an insurer under an insurance contract concluded in that period, as well as the amount of instalments in the event of instalment payment of an insurance premium under such contract; 
       2. the notices of the amount of instalments payable in that period in the event of instalment payment of an insurance premium under an insurance contract irrespective of the date of its conclusion.

After the expiry of the above-mentioned period, conversion shall be carried out ex officio into euro only.

In accordance with the general conversion and rounding rules of the Euro Law, the conversion from BGN to EUR will be carried out by dividing the numerical value in BGN by the full numerical value of the official exchange rate expressed in six digits with all five decimal places.

The resulting euro amount shall be rounded to the second decimal place, based on the third decimal place, in accordance with the following mathematical rule:

  • If the third decimal place is less than 5, the second decimal place shall remain unchanged;
  • If the third decimal place is equal to or greater than 5, the second decimal place shall be increased by one.

What should I do if I need urgent medical care and/or emergency treatment outside of working hours?

During non-working hours, you can visit a chosen by you medical facility for urgent or emergency medical care. Please, gather all medical and financial documents for the health care goods and services used. Expenses shall be reimbursed under the terms of your Insurance.

I ‘m covered under health insurance plan. I have to be hospitalized for treatment. Do I need to inform you in advance?

In case you are going to be hospitalized, you do not need to get confirmation from the Insurer. If you need assistance, we are ready to help you in the coordination with the chosen by you medical facility on 0700 400 99 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on working days.

I shall be traveling abroad for planned medical treatment. Will Travel Insurance policy cover my medical expenses?

This is one of the exclusions under Travel Insurance and these medical expenses will not be covered. The insurance does not cover medical expenses incurred for the purpose of planned treatment, as well as does not include the treatment expenses for any pre-existing condition or illness.
